EDM wunderkid, Martin Garrix, has today been forced to cancel a series of shows following the sad and untimely death of his pet Tamagotchi.

Garrix, who burst onto the EDM scene in the last two years following the release of his electro-nursery rhyme Animals, was said by representatives to be inconsolable following the demise of the tamagotchi – which he had named Tammy.

The shows that will be affected by the tragic death include several appearances at Las Vegas’s XS nightclub, a festival in Brazil and a personal appearance on Yo Gabba Gabba which Martin is said to “especially sad face to be missing”.

“It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of Martin’s tamagotchi, Tammy. Who went peacefully in the afternoon in Martin’s pocket following a long battle with not being fed electronic food properly” claimed a Garrix rep. “As a result of this unspeakable tragedy it is with regret that all Martin’s scheduled appearances for the next month will be postponed until he gets over the death. Which is expected to occur as soon as his new tamagotchi arrives.”

“It’s just hitting him hard because he loves animals so much, even electronic ones,” added the representative.

“Martin just needs time and space to process,” claimed a close friend, “it’s not every day that a tamagotchi dies, he’d raised Tammy since it came out of the pack, feeding and washing it at predetermined times by pressing a button, a skill which you think would come naturally to an EDM DJ.”

Reports claim that Garrix had neglected to feed Tammy after getting caught up in a Power Rangers marathon on a day off.

“I honestly haven’t seen Martin so cut up since that time he lost a balloon,” concluded the spokesperson. “I’d thank you all to respect Martin’s privacy, although the constant bombardment of #RIPTAMMY tweets to his Facebook and Twitter are massively
